REVIEW OF

TYLER PERRY’S

MADEA GOES TO JAIL

I’m sure you’ve heard of Tyler Perry by now. And I’m sure you know he’s a real hoot! Well, he’s still delivering—big time.

In Madea Goes to Jail, you’ll get more laughs than you bargain for, because there’s more Madea than in previous movies. Of course, there’s the serious portion of the story, too. A trademark of Tyler Perry movies: A rollercoaster ride of hysteria and drama.

In Madea Goes to Jail, bad lady Madea finally has the book thrown at her in court when Judge Mathis from TV sentences her to five years in prison for damaging a K-Mart customer’s car by dropping it about fifteen feet from a crane, and because of her long rap sheet. She puts up a good fight, but they manage to get her and take her in.

In the meantime, an assistant DA finds himself prosecuting a prostitute named Candy, that he knows from childhood. Citing conflict of interest, he turns her case over to his partner, who also happens to be his fiancé. In front of everyone, he gives her his card, telling her to call him whenever she needs him. The fiancé is not too happy about that. Candy is eventually sent to prison, where she meets up with Madea. And the fun begins.

If you are a fan of Tyler Perry’s work, you won’t be disappointed. The drama part of the movie is grittier than usual, and the comedy portion is outrageously funny! There’s even a surprise scene with Madea and Dr. Phil that pumps up the craziness. Derek Luke and Keshia Knight Pulliam star alongside Mr. Perry and a few of his regulars.
