REVIEW  OF

WAIT FOR ME

BY JO HUDDLESTON

This book takes place in a small mining town in the 1950’s. Julie Capshaw’s father owns the mines, so she comes from a very well to do family. Most of her schoolmates are from the minors’ families, but Julie’s mother doesn’t like her to associate with them. Little does she know that Julie has been seeing Robby, whose father works in the Capshaw mine. They are very much in love, but both are tired of sneaking around. But then Julie leaves for college in another town, and takes Robby with her so he can obtain employment and attend school the following semester. Because of strict rules at the dorm, the couple get to see very little of each other. Then, a crisis occurs in Julie’s family that threatens to disrupt everyone’s lives. Will Julie and Robby be able to come through unscathed? What will happen to her father and mother?

This is a pleasant read, and I especially liked that it took place in the 1950’s. It’s one of my favorite eras for reading or movies. The story touches on such issues as social class, plights of the minors, dementia, family problems and poverty. I recommend this book to anyone who likes sweet romances.
