AN INTERVIEW WITH LILLIAN DUNCAN

Lillian Duncan

Lillian Duncan is my featured author, this month. Her new e-book, Pursued, has just released. Welcome to my Web site, Lillian!

First off, please tell us where you’re from.

I'm from a small town in Ohio. We're located half-way between Columbus and Cleveland. When I say small I mean small. There's one traffic light. I love living in a town where I know the names of the people I see on a regular basis, like the store owner, the librarians, and the pharmacist. And in fact it’s one of the themes in Pursued.

I am delighted by the fact your town only has one traffic light! Are there any other interesting tidbits you’d like to share about your town?

It only has one traffic light but at one time we had four different pizza shops! Go figure.

Your bio indicates you have lots of pets, one type of which are four parrots. Have you taught them to speak?

They all speak, some more than others. Jasper is the most talented as far as speaking, but Rocky is the most loveable. Every morning, Rocky whispers “good morning to us as we walk past his cage. On the other hand Jasper calls me “bookworm” and then laughs about it.

As a speech-language pathologist by trade, has your career had any impact on your writing?

I like to think it helps me when writing dialogue. I have another book coming out in the fall with a little girl that has some “speech problems.” That was a lot of fun to write.

Lillian, please tell us about Pursued.

PURSUED  is a story near and dear to my heart. I wanted to write a story that showed some of the differences between "big-city" and "small-town" living, but in the end those differences are only superficial.  The important thing is a person’s character not where they live or what they do for a job.

How did you come up with the title Pursued?

The original title was Just An Old Country Boy but that didn't sound very suspenseful so I changed it to Pursued. In the story, Reggie is being pursued by an unknown killer, by the hero, and by God, so it made sense to me as a title.

Lillian, tell us one thing readers will be surprised to know about you.

I hate coming up with the names of my characters. I once wrote a book and only later realized all the characters had names related to the old Gunsmoke TV show.

Where can readers find you on the internet?

My website is www.lillianduncan.net and my blog is at www.lillianduncan.wordpress.com.

Anything else you’d like us to know, Lillian?

It is so much fun for me to sit down and create a story. My hope is that people have as much fun reading them as I have writing them.

Lillian, thanks so much for giving us some time out of your busy schedule. It was a real pleasure having you visit my Web site.

If you’d like to win a copy of Lillian’s e-book, Pursued, use my Contact page, and type “drawing” in the comments box.
