AN INTERVIEW WITH ALEXIS A. GORING

Alexis A. Goring

This month, I chat with Alexis Goring, author of A Second Chance. Please help me give her a warm welcome.

Alexis, I’m thrilled to have you here!
Thanks for the invite. I’m happy to be here!

Please tell us what kind(s) of writing you do.
I like to write inspirational romance (fiction) for the Christian book market. I love writing news stories for newspapers and feature stories for magazines. Blogging is also a passion of mine.

How did you become involved with this particular subject or theme of your book?
I’m not writing from firsthand experience in this story but I loved the idea of an inheritance letter, a jilted bride, Mr. Nice Guy, a (fictional) romance novelist, and I wanted to explore the idea of how faith in God changes everything.

Can you share some stories about people you met while researching this book?
The only research that I did for this book was interviewing a real-life ER doctor in order to ensure that the hospital scene in my story was believable.

Give us an interesting fun fact about your book.
An inheritance letter with an interesting stipulation is the inciting incident for the heroine’s journey.

And now to switch topics, Alexis, how did you get to be where you are in your walk with God today?
Through not giving up in the valley moments and remembering the mountain top moments when I’m in the valleys, trusting that He will never leave me. God has my best interest at heart and His plans for my life are good (Jeremiah 29:11). So when times are tough, I try my best to remember His promises that are found in His Word (The Holy Bible) and I keep the faith.

What inspires you?
Music, movies, good food, gorgeous malls, romantic scenery, Bath & Body Works, family, friends, faith in God…there are many sources of inspiration for me.
I’d say sunshine and blooming flowers inspire me the most because it gives me hope and feels like God’s love shining down from Heaven on His creation.

Do you have any unique talents or hobbies?
Not sure. It depends on what you call unique. I love to sing! But my voice isn’t exactly pitch perfect. However, I have been told that I have “a beautiful sound.”

What can we expect from you in the future?
You can expect more books that encourage and inspire hearts of the people who read my stories.

Currently, I’m working on a story about characters that love a fictional five-star quality bakery in the heart of a major city and I’m working on a story about a wedding photographer who’s never been in love.
