REVIEW OF

TURN AROUND JAKE

I had seen this DVD online at various sites and thought the premise seemed good, but wasn't sure if it was good enough for me to buy. I returned to it again, and again, but always ended up choosing another one over it.

One night, I saw a show on TBN where two guys were speaking about a movie they had made. Clips were shown and I realized they were talking about Turn Around Jake, the movie I had been eyeing for some time. Well, I was drawn in by the story and that did it for me. Within the next couple days, I had that movie ordered.

Starring in Turn Around Jake are Jarret Lemaster, Jen Lilley, Mark Withers and Michael Madsen. Here's the synopsis on the back of the cover:

Jacob Zaker is a rising business prodigy working under the tutelage of his corrupt boss, Russell O'Malley. Life is sweet until the government starts investigating illegal practices at his firm, and Jacob is pinned with the crime. Overnight, he loses it all: his career, his downtown penthouse, and his high-class model fiancé. Left without options, Jake escapes from L.A. to the last place he wants to be: his childhood home in rural Texas. Now Jacob must face an estranged father, Leo Zaker, and the girl he left behind, Jessica Henry. While Jake tries to figure out how to return to L.A. old flames are rekindled, and Jake is reminded of the man he used to be. But just as he starts to see that things have changed in the small town, Jake discovers a family secret that will force him to make the biggest decision of his life.

I have to say I was drawn in very early in the story. Much about this movie is endearing. The characters, the little town with its unique population, how the situations have been created and handled. I can go on. Humor is a high point and the romantic aspect is especially beautiful.

I highly recommend this movie, so go ahead and order it anywhere they sell Christian DVDs. You won't be disappointed. It's priced right, too.
